Having drawn from the expertise of the Atradius Collections' local offices, the International Debt Collections Handbook explains the different stages, regulations and procedures for Greece.
We have several attorneys and debt collection partners acting for us in Greek territories and collecting our claims either in court or out of court. The collection process commences with a registered letter to the debtor’s address, followed by an initial telephone call. Investigations are also made through internet sources and local contacts.
All our attorneys / agents in Greece are in a position to check the debtor’s solvency, examining in particular the court registries, the land registry and the registry of mortgages for a fee amounting up to EUR 300. Furthermore, personal visits to the debtor can be organised in the areas of Athens and Thessaloniki for significant outstanding debts.
During the amicable phase, interest can be charged to the debtor only if the rate is contractually agreed between the parties.
Amicable collection costs can only be asked if these were contractually agreed between creditor and debtor.
The Debt Collections Handbook presents a snapshot of Greece's local economic situation and covers the following topic:
- Legal procedures
- Lawsuit & costs
- Insolvency proceedings
- Timeframe and outcome
